Guido’s Treasure

Part of Guido’s Garden, inspired by Lindores Abbey, Newburgh, Scotland

Guido, the first abbot of Lindores Abbey, was a Tironensian monk, who had come with his fellow monks from the Abbey at Kelso. In this collection, I imagine the treasure of this practical knowledgeable man, so far from his original home in a warmer part of Europe. I created holders of the seeds that he has always been so careful to bring and preserve, so that he might be able, if the weather allows to propagate once more the plants he loves for their smells and colours and the food they bear.
Seeds represent potential and possibilities and as such must be carefully held.
